Saw the top post from earlier and had to make the bottom meme on behalf of body piercers everywhere.

Someone should explain to me why the ‘cheaper is better’ attitude is so prominent among people who choose to modify themselves.  Apparently it never occurs that a higher price is usually indicative of quality, both in the jewelry that you are putting in a hole through your body, and also the experience of the person performing the piercing.  

Yes, I could have easily purchased the needles and jewelry I needed to pierce my cheeks.  Except that I realize I do not have the same knowledge or experience as someone who does piercings on a frequent basis.  Cheeks are also notorious as being a difficult piercing to heal, no matter how skilled the piercing artist is, and I can attest to the fact that all of the risks involved were discussed at length before I was even allowed to sign the consent form.

Long story short, I paid around $120 plus tip to have my cheeks pierced, and it has nothing to do with anyone’s “rules”.  Also, the prices that shops have cover more than just the jewelry and needle, but that doesn’t occur to people who are convinced that cheap is the way to.  Investing in quality work that will last me a life time is definitely better than taking risks because I think I can do it myself, but that’s just me.
